A Day at the Zoo!

Last Sunday, Ryan and I were stuck with a bit of a conundrum - what to do with a whole day to spend together where Ryan didn't have to work, our errands were completed, and the weather was beautiful! So, off to the Okinawa zoo we went! I was expecting to see nothing more than a few stray dogs, some fish, habu snakes, and perhaps a few birds but there was so much more!

Ryan pretended to be a bat...

...until he saw the real bats!

A baboon!

Monkey see, monkey do!

Spider Monkeys! They were so cute!

Anteaters are NOT so cute.

Pigs...an Okinawan delicacy.

Hippopotomaseses! (see the post from Christmas to get the joke)

A lonely chimpanzee. Apparently it throws poo at you if you taunt it. So we didn't.

A beautiful peacock!

An animal from my motherland - a Bengal tiger!

Giraffes are quite tall!

A crocodile...scary! I didn't get any pictures of the snake habitat. I refused to go in there.

Turtles!

Baby elephants! Ryan wanted to take one home and name him "Stampy."

There was also a petting zoo with turtles, baby chicks, goats, an iguana, and a snake. I was too wimpy to go in (you know me and my fear of non-humans with teeth), but Ryan had lots of fun. The only thing he wouldn't pet was the snake.

Ryan petting little bunnies.

Awww, how cute! And the baby chick is adorable too!

A goat going for a walk.

There's Kanga, but where's Roo?

Ryan and a Hippo.

Okay, if you need to see a picture of me, here I am next to a fake Panda. I guess we'll have to go to China to see the real thing!
